AIS’25 carried on with the second day of conference which is also traditionally known as the AfNOG Day. It was a rich day marked by interventions by Prof Nii Quaynor the AfNOG Convenor, the Chief Digital Officer MTN Ghana, Mr Ibrahim Misto, Internet pundits Steve Cocker and Philip Smith presented keynote addresses followed by a series of rich technical presentations.

Steve Cocker, Internet pioneer, explained the earlier days of the Internet, brushing the earliest picture of what the Internet looked back then, followed by Philip Smith highlighted the earliest days for Network Operators Group across regions and their evolution as well as NOG success stories such as the Mongolian Network Operator Group, Philippines Network Operators Group.

Jean Robert Houngtomey from AfricaCERT and Alain Aina moderated two technical panels.

The first panel consisted of speakers and presentations: Justin Kananura Manzi, Cylab Africa / Upanzi Lab on Enhancing Africa’s Internet Infrastructure Security through Intelligence, Andrei Robachevsky, Global Cyber Alliance presenting on Strengthening Routing Security Together: MANRS Progress and Opportunities for Africa’s Network Operators and Madhvi Gokool, Senior IP Resources Specialist, AFRINIC on Role of technical community in Internet Resource Management.

The second technical panel included Amreesh Phokeer, ISOC presented on Measuring the impact of infrastructure changes in Africa and Lia Hestina, RIPE NCC on ‘’How RIPE Atlas Hosts Help Build Resilience and Monitor Performance’’.

Next and the final panel covered IPv6 adoption in Africa which was moderated by Alain Aina. Mukom Tamon, Head of Capacity Building, AFRINIC  and David Carrena, CTO West Africa, CANALBOX contributed to the panel.

The AfNOG day ended with three lightning presentations: The Women In Technology Leadership Programme - Dorcas Muthoni, AFCHIX, Detours in Africa’s Internet: IXPs, Subsea Cables, and Paths to Resilience by Semebia Wurah and Secure and Automated Router Onboarding for African Community Networks and Small ISPs- Abdulai Tamba Lebbie.
